if you ship #sherlock with john in every other universe but elementary because john is a girl in that version then you need to reevaluate why you ship them in the first place
if you legitimately liked them together then you should like them regardless of their gender, because they still interact and work together in the same way

No two incarnations of Holmes and Watson are exactly alike - after all, if they were, there would be no point to new adaptations. They might all share some essential traits and a similar dynamic, but the writing, the direction, the actors and the chemistry they have together, et cetera, will all bring something a little different to the table. So it’s reasonable that one Holmes/Watson ship might appeal to you while another might not, or that two different versions of Holmes/Watson might appeal to you in different ways or for different reasons. Totally, 100% legit!

If you just so happen to ship Holmes/Watson in most every other version of the stories you’ve encountered, and if, before Elementary has even aired, you just so happen to have already decided that you don’t and won’t ship Joan/Sherlock (especially if you assume the dynamic ~just won’t be the same~, and especially if you assume that the dynamic ~just won’t be the same~ because men and women can’t have the same kinds of relationships), then yeah.
